Substrate and Humidity

How long after doing an entire substrate change does it take for the humidity to go down. I'm fighting 80 percent and I changed it on Saturday!

I use Forest Floor.

I changed mine on Saturday too and it only started going down on Monday afternoon. Mine is only half a 4 ft Viv. What is yours and what for??

It's for a ball python! I have a 40 gallon - I know people have opinions on them being too big but for the last 6 months I have had no issues; he has multiple hides, clutter, eats, sheds perfectly, etc. My first substrate change didn't take this long to dry our - however it's been really humid here the last three days and we have had massive rain/flooding in my city.

My other guess was my hygrometer wasn't being the most accurate. The humidity is reading as high but the actual moisture content seems low - there is drying substrate, no condensation, etc. I'm going to pick up a secondary accurite just in case but otherwise I'm stumped

What one are u using to see the humidity, I recommend an electric one not a stick on gage. And don't worry about the size of the Viv. Everyone has their own opinion and at the end of the day it is down to your snake. 80% is ok for now, just don't let it above 90

It's a VE digital! Generally it's been super accurate. I'm running the dehumidifier in my appartment to see if it helps.
