Does it have a wired probe/s or is it a stand- alone one though

It is a stand alone. I believe it to be accurate, matches up with my other one with probe.

As long as you have at least one with a probe ( crucially measuring the warm surface ) ..

I only use stand alone ones to get an idea of approx AMBIENT temps as I can't see how they can accurately measure surface temps if the sensor is two inches above the floor surface..

Anyone know if ceramic vs plastic crock water bowl makes any difference in humidity?

    Re: High humidity in rack

Here's my thoughts and take it for what it's worth....

I've always struggled w/ high humidity (70% and up) and I've tried to take several steps to reduce it but nothing has seemed to work with the exception of decreasing the surface area of my water dish. Even then, my hygrometer still reads in the 70-80s most of the time. I've spoken with some breeders and other 'experienced' herpers and they didn't think it was so much of an issue as these snakes are used to a tropical area where humidity is extremely high. As long as they are not sitting in wet substrate, I think you should be fine. I think lower humidity is more of a concern. Just my two cents.....

Thanks for the info! I tried taking out water bowl and did it... still above 80%. I think this coconut fiber boost up the humidity by itself..

could be, the only way you are going to know for sure is take it out and temporarily use paper and see if there is a change.

there is definitely a change with or without coconut fiber. I have too much to just not use them anymore though and I do not like paper from my experience.. Probably holes and reduce in water bowl size would be best option for me..
