    For many years I attached light-weight chains w/ eye-bolts + clips (like on dog leashes) on other end from my home-made wood/screen lids to whatever cabinet my
    tanks sat on. I keep primarily colubrids but back then I also kept a number of rattlesnakes (for 20 years) so I took NO chances...cages were secure. I still do that
    on some of my cages, but ever since I moved cross-country & had to replace the tanks (too expensive to ship!), I had to make new lids to fit the slightly different size
    tanks, so I've gotten somewhat lazy & now some of my cages have lids that are only weighed-down. But when you do it that way, you REALLY have to OVER-do it,
    to always be sure. If your little noodles can manage to escape, just think what a motivated 7' constrictor can do? No escapes but I really should put the chains
    back on one of these days...thanks for reminding me.
