Don't beat yourself up. Things like this happen.
If nobody tried new things nobody would learn.

I woke up this morning, still feeling like crap, but wow you guys are kind. Thanks for the encouragement and input and suggestions. You guys actually made me feel a bit better about my blunder. So thank you very much to each and every one of you. You guys are awesome.

Trust me, we've ALL made rookie mistakes. And most of us have made mistakes well after our "rookie" status wore off.

two important questions are:
what size tank is it?
what are you using to measure humidity?
and if your mister is set up on a dc pump I have a spare mistking zip drip that it sounds like your husband should be able to work in to the system. that will get rid of drippage. I wouldn't mind shipping it to you if you wanted it.
Thanks for the tips! Much appreciated. Not sure about a live plant though. She literally tears through her enclosure at night, poking things over, knocking things over, etc. I would think a live plant would get destroyed, and the soil would end up everywhere. She is so curious! Besides, I can't even keep a plant alive in my house! I am no green thumb, that is for sure! lol
My tank is a 40g. Husband says it's a Leviton humidity sensor he's using. It works with his home automation system, so that I'm able to monitor humidity any time, any place on my phone.
I'll mention to hubby about what you're doing and see what he says. Not sure about shipping anything to me though, since I'm in Canada. But thank you for the offer!

OMG this made me laugh so hard! Thanks for starting my day off with a chuckle.

The way I look at it, is everyone makes mistakes. If I understand correctly, no harm gave of it and you caught it before it did. And I consider that a win, and a now you know. Don’t beat yourself up, it’s a waste of good energy.

You're probably fine. I mean if it was only a day or less, i wouldnt worry. Just clean it all up and learn that auto misters are bad lol. When i bought Dottie, she was in the back room in a little tiny glass cage sitting in a spilled water bowl of wet substrate. Poor girl looked so miserable and scared. Now a little over 4 years later and she just pisses me off all the time by going on fasts lol.
