Not a fan of the shiny fully open front end on them. I prefer offset doors so the snake can get completely out of view.

Any reason you couldn’t just rotate the hide 30, 60, or 90 degrees away from the front?

I suppose you could but i would think from the snakes perspective, there is still a big opening right out in the front of the hide where an animal can see them no matter where they are in the hide. With the offset door, they can actually hide to the side of the door. Now I'm not saying this is how they think but this design is pretty much the same thing as a half log shoved up against the cage wall. Plus from what i read and been told, snakes like to be touching sides when hiding so by using square/rectangular hides, they can contact 2 or 3 walls at once. Now again I'm not guaranteeing this but from what i've seen of my snakes, if i gave them too big of hide, they would cram into a back corner of the hide like they are trying to get away from the door and touching 2 walls. Dottie HATED larger hides. She still has her RBI large hides at 4.5 feet. She is clearly too big for them but she still loves them even if haf her fat butt hangs out from under a side lol.

Plus if you look at the largest round hide, the door opening is really tall. From what i have seen, snakes prefer small openings and low ceiling hides.

I mean they might work ok but just me personally, i prefer the offset box. It's the reason i only used bean farm hides once. Louie hated them and wouldnt even use them. He would just sit behind them under his shelf when i had him in a T8. Once i moved him to a T10 and gave him the large RBI hides, he started using them and pretty much does the same as all the other snakes. Packs his body in the offset side and just has his head or 1/3 of his body sitting outside the door.
