I'm thinking it is because they don't climb at all in the wild and stay buried a lot of the time. From what I've been told, STPs, are very ground-dwelling animals too, so probably don't know to wrap to hold on to things.

Yeah, these guys are definitely extremely terrestrial. Their heavy bodies aren't built for climbing, that's for sure.
It almost surprised me that they don't wrap even a little, just instinctively if nothing else. But nope, nothing at all.
