Reptoheat.... any feedback or users?

I was curious as to anyone who may be using or have use this product? There does not seem to be many reviews online or any YouTube videos or anything like that with feedback which makes me think that maybe people aren’t using them or they just aren’t that good. The reason I ask is because my local reptile shop has them fairly cheap for about $35 where most places online that I see are nearly double that. I was thinking about trying out a tub set up just to see how it works and to test it out. I’m just worried that my house being nearly 72° most of the time would still be too cool for ambient temperatures if I only used a large UTH. I thought because of the small footprint on this and the fact that you can sit it on top of the screen I could cut out a square to fit this and buy a cheap screen to lay it on.

Would that then totally defeat the purpose of a tub in the first place which is to lock in humidity and heat?

My concern would be that in a tub, could the snake get too close to a hot screen or the heater and get burned? Also, could a thermostat probe be effectively placed to regulate the output but not get knocked by the snake? If it ran unregulated would you just cook your snake?

Overhead heating can be used in tubs with some success, another forum member built this. And you can mount a thermostat probe for it, as Spyder Robotics recommends you can mount it within 5 inches of the heat source or directly to it.

Very interesting and thank you for the post. This is exactly what I was thinking about doing but I thought the other device may be better because I heard that they actually don’t get that hot so it’s good for ambient temperature.

If you have issue with the cool side simply buy an additional heat pad and an additional thermostat or buy the Herpstat 2.

Set one t-stat for the cool side and one for the warm side.

Going with proven method is your best bet, going with unknown products not so much, plus it will be the most efficient with the less heat loss (heat travels UP)
