Pet Supplies Plus???
I recently noticed a new pet store opened up not far from me. I haven't been in yet, but will get there eventually.
So it's called Pet Supplies Plus, apparently over 400 stores nation wide. I'd never heard of them though.
Are they a typical big box store? Better than the others?
Any experiences you'd like to share?
Thanks in advance.

Re: Pet Supplies Plus???
Typical Big Box Chain store. I would not buy any snakes from them. The stores I have been in have little to no training on how to properly care for snakes or any reptiles for that matter.
Decent enough for supplies like dog food and treats, bedding, but thats about it.

That's more or less what I figured.
I wouldn't be buying any animals from them, but potentially food, supplies and what-not.

Re: Pet Supplies Plus???
I just went to one for fun about six months ago, yes they’re just big box stores. There are a couple in my area. Sometimes though they have some supplies worth looking at, but for reptiles it’s just so so. By me at least petco and petsmart are a little better, I think.

If you're looking for higher-end cat and dog food, it's a pretty good place to go- it's the one place I can find my cat's dry food, and it's usually cheaper than advertised online. The one in my area has a discount table with some truly incredible deals on a wide variety of foods and some accessories. I forgot they had reptiles and birds though.

They are nothing but a Petsmart with a different name. We have them and Petsmart next to each other here. Pet Supplies Plus is a bit smaller in every dept. I buy my Dog Food there and thats it.

It's smaller than Petsmart but slightly larger than the pet section at Wal-Mart. I rarely buy anything from them but they do have some good sales every once in a while

Re: Pet Supplies Plus???
There are several near me. Some bigger than others. Their selection of toys is different and dog/cat treats and food are a bit higher end than petsmart and petco as far as I can tell. Prices are even pretty good for food and whatnot.
Their real winner for me is fish supplies. It's definitely cheaper for things like airline hosing and connectors and has a bigger selection of jets and other fish keeping accessories than the other 2 big box stores.
I don't notice a huge difference in herp supplies, but it isn't lacking in comparison. I think they may have a few more kinds of heat bulbs and different decor styles, if you have one of their larger stores. The smaller ones are about the same. (We have 2 bigs and one fairly small one nearby)
But, definitely not the place to get a reptile as a general rule. Most of the pet stores near me appear to do pretty well by their reptiles, though so it's a "your mileage may vary" situation.
(never any starving looking, frequently only 1 BP in a cage, none that look dehydrated at all/humidity appears good by some condensation on the glass)
