Gina enjoying her plants...or she is looking for food as a couple more days is feeding day for the little ones.


And the live plants really do keep a lot of humidity. Gina is sitting at around 80% with no misting whatsoever on aspen. I gave her 3 plants as Dottie and Luna pretty much would have killed the plants in within a week at best.

Can these gals stay in a T10 permanently? Or, do you eventually have to upgrade to something larger?

And, how big do the males get?

I guess you could keep them in a T10 but i personally dont. I keep my bigger boas in T25s and the babies/juveniles in T8s and T10s.

Males should get about 7 feet or so. Females about 8-9 feet. That's a general size, some may get bigger or be smaller depending on genetics, food etc.

Yeah, she is being slow grown. She is probably just cracking the 2 foot mark at just over 1.5 years old. She will be 2 years old Aug 22 this year.

She is really laid back. Not really foody at all and isnt insane about food like my other snakes until you actually give it to her. The other snakes even smell food thawing and they are up in arms. It's mostly the males too. Rango and Louie will track any movement at all but the females are mostly laid back.

The Pokigrons actually tend to stay smaller unlike the Suri basin boas. An 8 foot female, Poki would be on the rather large side and a nine footer would be huge. My friend here has a 10-11 year old female that is 6.5 feet that he just bred this past year and his male that is 9 years old is a bit under 6 feet.

According to Gus Rentfro and Stockl, the average female is 6.2 to 7.2 feet, and males a bit smaller.

My friend keeps his Pokis in 8 foot cages and allows them a huge temp gradient.

So Charles, if you are looking into the subspecies, plan on doing what Sauzo did and give some space.

Yea... I would love to get one of these girls, but need to work out basement logistics.


If I can figure out a future location for a 6-ft. enclosure, I will most certainly get a boa. Right now I have a T8 split for 2 snakes. I will soon be ordering another T8, or more probably a T10. Then I have a space for five T3's stacked. If I didn't get the fish tank set up, I would of had the 6-ft. spot.

Yeah, Chris Wolf told me the parents are only about 6 feet or slightly bigger. He doesnt try and grow them huge. he tends to try and keep them smaller or in better shape.

And thanks. I am very pleased with Gina with her pretty symmetrical pattern and clean overall coloring. I love her little eyelashes too. Cant see them very well when she is in her light phase but when she goes dark phase, they stand out pretty good.

And atm Gina is in a T10. She will be moved to a T25 later or given Caesar's T25 if i get him a T65. Regardless, i got lots of time as Gina is still tiny and BCC grow like pain dries. I've had Gina almost a year and she has shed for me 2, maybe 3 times. But yeah, plan for a 6x3 for an adult boa. 8x3 foot would be even better and a stack of those would be freakin impressive. I'm still floored by how mammoth my 6x3 stack of 3 cages looks everytime i look at it lol. Here is a pic to give you an idea of the size. The left side is T10s and T8s while the right side is the T25s.

IMO one of the nicest looking snakes on the forum.
The shape of a Healthy Suri boa is a thing of beauty.

Boa constrictors in general are great, loaf shapes.

Gina just kicks it up a notch.
