My female 1.5 years old and 1580 grams at 4' is almost against the sides of the Large door. The hide itself is more than enough so i think I'm going to try and cut/melt the doorway because a XL hide is ridiculously BIG. I have those and use them to keep cleaning supplies in.

OMG, that just made me laugh, trying to imagine Jag squeezing into a medium hide, LOL !!!

He does love his "custom" hide, though...its perfect and even looks "natural"

For my "normal" or smaller sized snakes I do like and use the RBI style hides. And I don't go up to "large" size until about 1000 gr or so ? Depends on the snakes girth.

Something to be said for "round" hides, though, they allow the snake to lay in a nice round coil. Sometimes I lift the RBI hides and marvel at the rectangular shape of the snake in there, LOL

Re: Are these hides too big for an adult male ball python?

Thanks for the input everyone. Sounds like the large are fine for me, since my snake is an adult and I have a thermometer in the hide taking up some space. I may get a wider tank, if I can find a good price, to make it less cluttered.
