It's so hard not to when you see an animal is such terrible housing conditions. I bought one of my arboreal tarantulas when, like the snake you found, I found it set up terrestrially. They didn't even know what arboreal meant and claimed that the terrestrial set up was perfect for an avicularia.

I mean, yeah, I saved the animal from dying in the shop or being purchased by someone who would take the pet store advice - but we all know in the end they will just replace with another one. I just don't go to big name pet stores anymore. The locally owned shops do a great job housing their amphibians and reptiles. The inverts do need more substrate than they are provided with though.
