(though I usually just call him "Sir" if he's doing something naughty or "Snoot" when he's being cute)
I like to name things based in either personality or after things I like - characters in books, games, weather and geology terms...can be anything really. His name was almost "Lahar - a flow of volcanic debris" which my fiance did not care for, or "Naak Do Nikriin" or Eater of Cowards in the Skyrim Dragon Language which seemed a bit long lol.
