my little one was definitely a curveball for me, too. i've never had to fully shed a snake.
don't let that shed stay on too long or it can dry out and be even harder to remove. IMO you should get him soaking and you working on him sooner rather than later. use a cotton tipped applicator (or Q-tip) on the delicate areas like the head and eyes.
if you decide to soak him, be sure to use a tub with a lid so you can close it and allow the humidity to build and soften the skin. and wait that full 15 minutes for them to soak.
