    It does matter in the case of the specific traits you chose because banana/coral glow happens to be sex-linked. Most are not, and therefore it won't matter. In the case of the banana, it depends on the specific genetics, which can generally be determined if you know which parent was banana (not applicable if it was offspring of a male banana and a female banana - can't tell then).
