Temperature question!

Hello BP mates!

I just had some questions, I have been asking too many questions but that is how I am before getting something new so I don't mess up. Please understand haha

As for heating, I am planning to use Zoo med UTH under plastic bin with thermostat. Anyone have better UTH recommendation or does zoo med just work fine? I am just heating one tub.
Do you guys keep room temperature at around 80 degrees? or do you guys just heat the tub with one heat pad?
My plan is to just use one heat pad on hot side because I expect the heat to raise and eventually spread around the tub. I saw that UTH isn't meant to keep gradient temperature but if I use plastic bin, I feel like it can keep the heat in since it is not that high. Anyone have any experience with that?

depending on the size of the tub, the UTH will do little to nothing for ambient temps. the heat will not spread around the tub; that's just not how they work.

for an alternative to the ZooMed UTH: look into UltraTherm UTHs by Reptile Basics. they do not get as hot as their cheaper counterparts (but still require a thermostat for regulation), and they do not have adhesive so you can move and remove them as you please using aluminum tape.

i heat my room to ~73° which keeps the tub ambient temps above 75°. i also use a small 75W ceramic bulb placed on a tile with my one stand-alone 15qt bin. this is not the best method for heating (plastic + heat isn't always great) so this should be considered temporary (my young one isn't eating consistently so i want to keep him isolated until we figure this out lol).
