Shed STILL on mouth after weeks? Please help!
Okay, so my boy Sam has a problem that I'm not sure if I should worry about or not. He shed on October 9th. It wasn't a really bad shed, it was pretty clean after a small soak except I noticed he didn't get the shed off of the front of the snoot//mouth. (there is also some super small shed pieces on one side of his heat vents, making them look odd-ish) The next day I sprayed that area lightly and repeatedly with a mist bottle and gently peeled some shed off, but when I got the the front of his snoot he would NOT hold still and was getting stressed, so I decided to cease fire and settled with thinking he would get the rest off himself. Well, it's November 6th now and it's still there. It doesn't seem to bother him at all, he acts completely normal and happy like always, is eating wonderfully, but it bothers ME because I'm not sure if I should be worried.
Should I leave it and see if it comes off with his next shed? Should I try to spray it again and peel? I this normal? Is it bad? I could really use some advice on this! Thank you SO much.
*note, his temps and humidity and everything are ideal so I really don't know how this happened?
Here are some pics. They aren't very good as he was being really curious today and wouldn't hold still, but I hope you can kind of see what I'm talking about.

bad sheds happen sometimes, and it's not the end of the world. i'd leave him be and ensure that his next shed will have proper humidity so he can get everything off in one go.
not much to worry about right now. just make sure his next shed comes totally off.

Thank you for the reply! This is reassuring. I will make sure his next shed goes well and he gets everything off!

Humid hide after a nice soak should get that off. Pezz had a troubled shed and he got it all off with a nice soak and a humid hide.
Really the concern is stuck eye caps, complete stuck shed on neck, and stuck shed on tail tip. Outside of that it really is not harmful for stuck shed but on vents or nostrils can make them sound like they are wheezing so verbally it can be unnerving.
Just have a nice soak, some TLC rubbing (q-tips work wonders for getting delicate areas) and a nice humid hide of moss should be all that is needed. Don't be surprised if your snake hisses at you for soaking it. They all do
Just follow the guidelines for soaking (around 80 degree water and no more than 1/3 or so up his sides for the amount of water, never ever leave a soaking snake unattended).

Just remember, humid hides are for shed only. Once the shed is off, no more humid hide. You don't want your snake sleeping in a damp bed

while the pieces seem unsightly they're not in dangerous places. eyecaps neck and tail tip are the concerns. a nice soak may help or you could just wait till the next shed.

I'd say if yours isn't headshy, try giving him a rubdown with a lukewarm moist washcloth.
Otherwise, if you're not seeing him rubbing his face trying to get the stuck bits off, it's probably OK to let him wait for the next shed vs bothering with things like setting up a cococoir shed box or a soak.

You guys keep saying that having stuck shed on the tail tip is at a dangerous area. Why is that so? My ball python, Freya, shed a couple of weeks ago and still has some on the last 1/4th inch of her tail (she's only 115 grams). I haven't done anything about it because I didn't want to stress her out too much and thought it would be fine to wait until next shed. Should I take action?

tail, eyes and nose are very difficult yet critical areas when it comes to shedding and are the only spots that i worry about when it comes to stuck shed. repeatedly leaving stuck shed on the tail will lead to a build-up of that old, tight skin which will eventually cut off circulation and cause the tail tip to die and fall off/have to be amputated. Corny has a bit of stuck shed on his tail right now, which i was able to remove by wetting the area as well as my fingers, apply pressure and slide my fingers down the tail.
