    Adding vent holes to tubs

What is the preferred method for adding holes to tubs for air circulation? What size?

I'm pretty new to snakes, so don't quote me on this, but if I had to make more holes, I'd make them big enough so plenty of oxygen flows in, but not big enough for your snake's head to fit through.

3/16" if you use a bit. If you do use a bit use a wood working bit and rock it side to side. Don't push too hard or you can crack the plastic tub. Another way some people prefer is to use a soldering iron. Get it hot and simply push it through. Just give it enough holes so it maintains the humidity you want.

I second the sodering iron. Melting the holes in prevents possible cracking and doesn't leave rough edges.

Soldering iron, then use a razor to scrape the extra plastic after it cools.

I bought some 28 quart tubs with lids from Home Depot for about $6. The plastic is flexible enough to where the plastic doesn't crack when drilling. I drilled four holes on each side, almost isn't enough because my substrate says moist all week, I prefer it to dry out a bit more. I'd go with fewer holes to start. If you get a build up of moisture / condensation you can drill more holes. Depends on your ambient humidity too, if you live in a humid climate I'd tend to drill more holes.

i prefer to usr a soldering iron, but if you use one PLEASE do it outside or in a well ventilated area. inhaling melting plastic fumes is NO BUENO.
