Yes if you put limits it does stop.

At first it seemed like I was always buying racks and equipment, now pretty much if something comes in or I hold back something, something in my collection has to go, so I still have the same numbers and no longer need racks but the collection is upgraded.

The key is finding your own limit and not get overwhelmed.

Check out the classifieds! I got my herpstat 4 for like 200 bucks a few years ago. Actually, both of my herpstat 4s were bought second hand.

I'm at the point where I literally have 4 spare empty setups large and small, and there's literally nothing holding me back from getting more snakes. I also have 2 empty spots in my BP rack.

I've kind of accepted that I'm currently at my limit, especially resolving that Jack would be my final "most wanted" species. But honestly, who knows what will happen to me again in a year or so... LOL

I'm cutting down... I bought a bunch of snakes altogether in a rack off craigslist this summer. I have sold three of the snakes already, and about to sell one more.... That will leave me down to 4 snakes, 2 males and 2 females, and I am setting 4 as my limit, unless I somehow get rich!!!

I definitely understand that from a breeder's point of view but that's the only thing that I struggle with since my BPs are pets first and I feel a little sad replacing them with "better" stock. I know that it's a business decision for most.

I'm probably going to be breeding my first clutch (my Pied project has taken me 3 years so far to finally breed) this upcoming year and will only hold back one, if I get the combination I'm shooting for. I only have room for one more in my collection. All the others will either be sold online or to a local reptile store with which I already worked out a deal.
