    Sorry To Be A Bother.

My UTH and CHE have been on more than maybe 2 hours and it doesn't even feel like it is getting hot? I mean the temp. is up to 82, but the dome for the CHE doesn't feel like it is getting hot, is it because it is Regulated and my thermostat is set to 80, I believe because right now, i'm just testing it out....

Any advice of what I am doing wrong, if anything.
    Please don't be rude!

    Thank you for helping out!

Re: Sorry To Be A Bother.

That's the reason? The light in it isn't even getting hot. Is that also the reason?

In a few weeks or months I think I will be asking you about thermostats.
In other words, keep asking away and that bolded reply above me is pretty much reinforcing that you answered your own question

Edit: You aren't doing anything wrong. The thermostat is doing what it is supposed to do meaning you have it set to 80 and it is keeping it around 80 (82)

I don't know if you want to do this, but when I first got my CHE, I let it run unregulated to see just how hot it would get. If it didn't reach the temps I wanted, that means I'd have to buy a bigger wattage bulb. After that I set it to the ideal air temperature I wanted, so around 87 degrees, and let it go for a while, adjusting as need be. Hope that helps!

Re: Sorry To Be A Bother.

dont EVER apologize for trying to learn!!!

think about it like this: your body runs at ~98° F, so anything cooler than that won't register to your skin. at 80° F that's much cooler than your body.

regulating temps keep them low and stable, so you're having the opposite "problem" of most!!!

if you're achieving the proper temps with regulation, then there's no need to stress.

if you've monitored your regulated temps and achieving the proper range, heating elements NOT being hot is exactly what you should be expecting.

    you're doing great!!!

You are definitely NOT a bother, asking questions is EXACTLY what this forum is for. 90% of what I know about keeping snakes I learned here at the forum.
