Re: First feeding success! Now what?

When I started handling my bp, I would try to wait until he was out roaming his tank. I felt bad for stealing him from his hide the one time I did that, and some part of me wonders if he felt less secure in his hides after that, knowing I could take him from them. If I wait until he is roaming, then I know he's awake and comfortable, and don't have to worry about messing with his sense of security. Of course, this means I may end up waiting a while until I find him out. I have held him in early evening when he was roaming, but it usually ends up being later at night. One advantage to early evening was that I didn't have to turn on a light in the room, as it was decently lit with ambient light from outside and from the next room over, so it was more low-key for snakey. He's still warming up to me, but as long as I'm slow and calm he seems to calm down quickly and start exploring my hand.
