Haha...let me know if you want me to tell you what's gonna happen next week w/ Tapioca

I've had 4 consecutive weeks of successful feedings and each one has been while I'm out of the room which I'm not complaining about. I'd much rather have a docile snake then an aggressive one. It's interesting that I can pick a certain time of the night and he'll be out roaming whereas before I had to wonder if he was even in there

Haha its like Jose (am I remember his name right?) is future Tapioca!

It's so fascinating seeing how their behavior starts to change in just a few weeks!

Well my wife thought it would be funny to name him Jose Con Snake O but my 3 year old calls him Fred Either way, I'm having to see them build up their confidence in the acclimation process.

Re: First feeding success! Now what?

When I started handling my bp, I would try to wait until he was out roaming his tank. I felt bad for stealing him from his hide the one time I did that, and some part of me wonders if he felt less secure in his hides after that, knowing I could take him from them. If I wait until he is roaming, then I know he's awake and comfortable, and don't have to worry about messing with his sense of security. Of course, this means I may end up waiting a while until I find him out. I have held him in early evening when he was roaming, but it usually ends up being later at night. One advantage to early evening was that I didn't have to turn on a light in the room, as it was decently lit with ambient light from outside and from the next room over, so it was more low-key for snakey. He's still warming up to me, but as long as I'm slow and calm he seems to calm down quickly and start exploring my hand.

TAPPY STRUCK FOR THE FIRST TIME!!!!

What makes this even better? It was with his first time trying rat!! He was in his hide and I thought I'd have to leave it outside for him as usual and I was just offering for the heck of it, rat nose facing his hide and

    BAM

Suddenly I feel a yank and he dragged it into his hide! I'm so happy!
