I am not very experienced but I have a $100 Temp gun by Maximum. It was on sale at Canadian Tire for $50. I thought that temp guns were used to check accuracy of the thermometer/stat. I feel as though it would be hard to measure the accuracy of the temp-gun itself unless you tested many models against each other. Even then, how would you actually know which is the most accurate without an appeal to popular opinion or average? I went with a more expensive model because I figured that a better brand would be more reputable. I could be wrong, but I figured that a good temp-gun is pretty important.
