I'm still probably going to end up checking on his temps constantly like I did the first 2 months again haha

Im terrified, can't believe I'm making this post. Insight/advice needed for possible
Sounds as though everything will be fine
Out of interest your taped probe is OUTSIDE the rub hopefully ??
Also why have the probed thermometer testing the cool side when the warm side is more crucial !?
I realise you also have a digital temp gun .

agree with all of the above. just wanted to add i was using jumpstart thermostats for a few months and they were working fine. one day i checked the temperatures and they were way too high. 110F. i tried everything but it wouldn't get back to normal. it might have been fried during a power surge. basically i just wanted to say that you will want to invest in a more advanced thermostat when you are able to. better safe than sorry

Sorry if that wasn't clear, I have two thermometers measuring ambients on both sides, and one of them (the cold side one) has a probe that I place on the hot side to measure its temps so I get ambients and humidities on both sides and hot side surface. It's just because I bought the hot side thermometer after the cold side one so it's out of habit lol
And yeah, the thermostat probe is outside, so I really don't understand how it got knocked out of place :/

Yikes. I've definitely been wanting to get a better thermostat but at the moment it's not really possible. Hopefully if things go well financially I'll have a Herpstat or VE by next year. Thanks for the warning. ^_^

I'm sure he's okay.
For the 'human temp is 98.6F' though, that's our internal temp, so it's not accurate to say because a snake sits on a human, that being at 99F is okay. Human skin is rarely ever that temp.
But a spike to 100 will usually not cause any lasting harm and unless a burn develops, I would not bother with a vet visit.
I have had heat incidents where I lost snakes, had snakes have permanent damage and such. It was upwards of 120F though.
