Male or Female BP?

I recently adopted a BP and I'm not sure if it's male or female. I have seen professionals sex them, but I certainly don't want to try it myself with no experience. That being said, I know it's probably impossible to tell just by weight and length but I strongly believe it's a male after doing some research on the size/weight of male vs. female. The snake is almost 6 years old and just over 3 feet. Weighing in at 840g. Just wanted to get some opinions. I have a vet appointment coming up so I'll find out for sure then, I'm just eager to know.

I used the roll method on my bp. Just gently roll the end of his/her tail in your fingers near the vent scale and you'll either see two small 'spikes' on either side (hemipeens=male) or a sort of sac will emerge (female) (I know more about the male bc my bp is a male. I barely touched his vent scale and the hemipeens popped out idk if its that easy for all snakes but its worth a try) its really impossible to tell a bps gender based on its weight and length :/

There is a size difference between male and female ball pythons, as females have to support eggs in their bodied and therefore get much bigger than males. Still, there will always be females that don't get very big and there will always be males that grow to be huge, so you can't really tell sex by size.

Betting its a male though.

Do not try to pop or probe your snake. Doing either without proper knowledge and experience can be very dangerous.
Either have somebody with the proper experience show you, or simply do it for you. If you don't know anybody who can physically do it for you and teach you it's best to make a vet appointment if you really want to know for sure.

It *may* be possible to have an idea by the size of the spurs (Located next to the vent) with larger ones on males. This is not 100% accurate, but it is true of my one female and one male, with the male having huge spurs and my girl having little ones. Like I said though, this is not 100% accurate.

It's also almost impossible for a beginner with just one snake, so no basis for comparison.

OP... yes, odds are it is a male, but like it has been said it could just be a small female.

I just spent a lovely evening popping and probing babies, getting peed all over. One even managed to squirt half way across the table and pee in my beer. That one will be named party pooper if i keep it.

Anyway, there is no way to be certain with any visual inspection method. We actually bet on them at my house. This year no one has been extraordinarily accurate.

LOL. It was the cheap stuff, so no. In my Army days I probably would have. Not finishing a beer was considered alcohol abuse.
