scale rot means sopping wet bedding throughout the enclosure. a ball of wet moss tucked in a hide will not harm the snake.
a trick i like to use is a damp hand towel laid over a hide (towel under the CHE). boosts humidity for a week before it needs to be rewet.
sorry if you've posted this info before: do you have a mesh top enclosure? and what type of substrate are you using? are you using a light bulb or a CHE?
