    It can go either way, now if the animal did not absorb his yolk rather than wait until the first shed to feed, I would do so in the next 3 to 5 days (live large fuzzy mouse overnight), if it does not work simply euthanize and assist the fuzzy the next day, after that feed on the same schedule than the rest of the clutch (large live fuzzy overnight) and assisted the next day if not eating on his own, and repeat until the animal is about 60 grams, at that time if it's still not eating on it's own you can offer a live hopper, remove if not eaten wait a week offer a live hopper again and if not eaten assist the next day.

    Getting bigger will allow you to assist every other week instead of every week should that be necessary, the animal might eat on his own.

    My smallest was 24 grams made it just fine.
