So I figure I should have started this earlier. I have kept halfway decent records and taken pictures somewhat often though!
Amara was brought home on April 5th. She has been absolutely awesome. Incredible feeding response! She is somewhat shy and timid but I can live with that! I would be too if there were some giant thing manhandling me.
First day I brought her home:
I know the half log isn't an appropriate hide! She has two matching plastic hides from Reptile Basics. This was literally the day I brought her home before I could get my hands on them.
Weight check I did on April 19th:
And on to the reason why I decided to start this! I had noticed Amara hadn't been peeking out at me in a couple days. I handle her usually once an evening or once every other evening but also try to follow what I've seen here about a hiding ball being a happy ball. It was feeding day so I started warming up a small mouse for our other ball, Ovetchkin. Amara ALWAYS peeks when she smells me warming up a meal. She'll usually start cruising the enclosure. I peeked and her color was looking super dull. I wanted to worry but she hadn't shed since I got her so I figured the timing was about right and browsed the threads for probably a couple hours reading about shed experiences. I was afraid I maybe didn't bump her humidity up in time to catch it. WELL, I just checked and found a FULL SHED. Nothing stuck! This is a proud snake father moment! First shed and it's a full one! Pretty pumped about this to say the least! I have a small rat unthawing for her now! I'll post some pictures below!
Thanks for stopping by! Hope to update relatively frequently!
