Undeveloped Follicle attached to Egg

My girl deposited 5 eggs yesterday. All look good and viable with strong veins. However, one has a grape sized follicle attached to it. It is not just stuck, it is attached by connective tissue which looks almost like a sausage link connection but thicker, about 1/8 inch in diameter. My concern is I cannot tell if the content of the follicle can mix with the content of the egg. I imagine since the follicle has no veins it will start to decay/mold soon. If there is fluid being shared then I would suspect the egg will be contaminated and lost. Has anyone experienced this before? If the fluid is not mixing and the follicle does in fact start to mold, what can be done to preserve the integrity of the egg? Here is a picture.

Are you sure it's a follicle? Maybe it's just a mucous plug? I would consider using some dental floss and tieing off the mass a short distance from the attachment point on the egg. Kind of like tieing off a umbilical cord. Maybe for added insurance, tie it off in two places and cut in between the ties. Plan B would be to describe the condition to your exotic vet for another impression or form of treatment approach. Hope things work out for the better.

Pretty sure it is a follicle. There was another that was loose and about the same size. Here is a pic. I don't believe they are "slugs" as they are too small and slugs look more egg like. Tying it off with floss sounds like a great idea. I think I will try that

Yeah, sure. Is it a soft mass or does it feel semi hard or hard ? Be careful when tieing it off and it will probably be safer to tie it off in two places and then wait for about 15 mins before making the cut. Sounds good. Congrats on the clutch.

I would try to tie it off with floss and eventually pinch it off with the hopes of not cutting into the good egg.

Feels like an unripened grape, pretty firm but with some give. Thank you
