Help..Question about feeding

I'd link a video but it's subscription only. Gavin Adkins is a UK breeder and he has a rodent set up to produce feeders for his snakes and swears by doing it that way to control quality of what goes into your animals, so no, not just the odd live for a finicky eater that's been taken in.

I tried F/T and he just wasn't interested.. Feeling that he was indeed hungry, I waited until the next day and put a live adult mouse in with him..This time leaving his hide undisturbed.. The second time the mouse stuck his head in the hide he got ambushed.. I waited an hour and then lifted the hide to check to see if he had indeed swallowed him and he did..Him being in his new surroundings and not eating for a few weeks I just wanted to make sure he ate..I am going to give him 2 days and then start small with handling him a few minutes every day if he tolerates it which I think he will.. he seems very comfortable and I don't want him to get used to not being handled

As regards handling I wouldn't worry at all - you've got a Royal / Ball python and they're always good to handle , I've got 5 currently but I've had and held many , many more and never come across one that I couldn't handle easily . They're nothing like baby Boas or Retics or Burms that do need regular handling ...


When you do get him feeding well maybe try with thawed frozen again , there are many tips to get them eating them ....

Thanks Zinc.. I most definitely will keep working on the F/T, as it would be much easier to feed him.. I did handle him today.. just for a few minutes and it went well.. he was stiff at first but quickly loosened up and was fine.. Then he seemed a bit flighty( trying to crawl away from me) so I put him back in his enclosure.. I have read that over time they will become more relaxed and used to being handled.. Thanks for your advice..👍🏻

No worries !
I know getting them to feed is always a concern

As to handling I occasionally let my Royals (one at a time ) hang around my neck whilst I'm at the computer
