how do you make airholes into polycarbonate?

Hi! So this is my question, how do you make the airholes into full transparent hard policarbonate food containers GN1/1? I'm thinking of with hot nails, but I have no experience.

You might be able to use a straight tip soldering iron like this one and melt it. Sorry, my employer really limits our internet and this is the best I could find...but you'll get the idea. Not sure if drilling holes is an option or the material would crack?

I would drill screw holes using a screw gun/drill and a screw, then just reverse it and back the screw out. Just make sure there aren't any sharp edges. A hot nail may work, or the soldering iron as mentioned above. Whichever you choose, just watch for sharp edges. You may be able to use a sharp knife to cut them off and maybe some sandpaper to smooth them even more.

Do not use a screw. It WILL crack your container.
Use a drill bit, go slow and support the back side with a scrap piece of wood. If you push too hard you will crack it.

Re: how do you make airholes into polycarbonate?

Thank you for everyone! I tried first with hot soldering iron. Finally I tried out simply with drilling machine and it worked just fine. No cracks, I made 6 containers. Well, it doesnt looks so nice as it is made in a facrory, but good.

Polycarbonate can be drilled using commercially available power-driven equipment, such as portable drills, drill presses, lathes, or automatic multiple-spindle drilling units.

3 of the 4 tools mentioned are completely useless or inefficient for drilling in tubs though.....
