Pay attention and see how he behaves when you make the switch, sometime slight changes and your ability to observe will tell you a lot.
thanks a lot, Deborah. i'll get a 15qt and get it ready this week, and hope to move him in this weekend. i'll update and let you know how it goes.

Please let us know how it goes. I have had the smaller tub thing work and not work. I never went as small as Deborah does until recently. Most most problematic male is under the "Deb" treatment as we speak. He is in week two and in shed. I am going to attempt to feed him a week after his shed. Nothing else has worked to get him consistent.

i'll def keep this thread updated with the process. "the Deb treatment" hopefully starts this weekend: i plan on getting the tub tomorrow and ordering a new heat mat after that.
i might go a little bigger than 15qt, maybe 18 (don't kill me, Deborah!) so his hide fits but i'll wait to see when i go to target; i might have to make a hide regardless.

Re: moving my inconsistant feeder to a tub

i might have discovered a husbandry issue: i used to heat the whole room which kept my beep's ambient temp at a steady ~79°. however that room is my bedroom and i couldn't take it anymore, about a month ago i spent the money on an RHP and stopped heating the room. during my check, i hit various places with my temp gun; some spots farthest from the RHP were reading as low as 76°. his AcuRite sits between 77-79° on the sides, and right under the RHP the gun reads ~81°. he's currently in the hide right under the RHP...i think he's been too cold.

i turned up my Herpstat two degrees, so maybe i'll hold off on his move (will still purchase the setup) and try to feed in a couple days. we've had a bunch of rain and crappy/cold weather for a while up here...maybe that didn't help.

    well, yay discoveries!

That's great, now you may be able to skip the entire exercise.

spaghetti and yellow refused. this is 2 in a row for spaghetti — her first ever — and 4 for yellow. this obviously has to do with my ambient heating/temps. for the moment i'm going to turn off all heaters and just heat the room like i used to and wait two weeks. i feel like a bad mom.
