Raising humidity?

It is a mesh top. I do have cardboard with plastic wrap on it, and I'll go tape down the sides now. Thanks!

Whatever it is I've seen people suggesting covering the top with an extra piece of of plastic / perspex /polythene but you'd have to cover it all and even seal the edges with tape . It has to cover the whole of the top though as any space will allow the moisture to escape . I saw one suggestion of keeping a damp towel on top but that will result in rusting if the screen / mesh is metal ...

I just covered the cardboard in plastic wrap, per your request, and I'll send my husband to the store for a sponge. Right now I'm using paper towel because she has mites and is being treated right now. After they are gone I will switch her back to cyprus mulch, which I'm sure will hold the humidity better. Thank you!

Cover as much of the top as you can. Also, wrap the cardboard in aluminum foil or cling wrap, the unwrapped cardboard actually absorbs moisture.
What substrate are you using?
You can add some sphagnum moss, or even a wet sponge in a dish somewhere in the enclosure

Whenever it's colder than 40 outside, it seems like our furnace sucks any humidity out of the air in the apartment, including the snake cage, where it drops to about 35. I just fold up a few sheets of paper towel, get them wet, and put that in the enclosure. It'll shoot right up to 60. I have a tub though.

Aluminum paper with aluminum tape on the sides... Easy to set up 5 min top, it's not affected by the CHE and does not absorb humidity like the cardboard.

Make sure to cut some opening you don't want the air completely trapped inside either

Sounds good. I'm sure the humidity is worse for you during the winter months like it is for me. I'm in MA and having to run heaters really dries out the air, making humidity a pain. The colder it is outside, the worse it is for the humidity in my house so it dries out the snake enclosures too.
You'll definitely notice a difference when you can switch your substrate back too. maybe because she's on paper towels throw a few, or a bigger sponge in there in a dish. The dish will help keep it from being absorbed into the paper towel and drying out too quickly.

Yes as much as possible with a pair of holes to let the air flow a little, something around 4" should be enough.

Haha, tomorrow will only be 2 weeks for me. I just do a lot of heavy research but only most of it was after I picked her up
