    News story

    Indonesian man's body found inside python - police

    Thought that this was pretty amazing. Very sad, though.

    Re: Man Reportedly Found Inside Giant Python

    @ladywhipple02,

    Please tell me the news station was smart enough to respond or at the very least, update the picture.

    I was talking with my neighbor yesterday in regards to putting a fence in and problems with the HOA about it and we were talking about some of the "rules" that make no sense and I pointed out that we aren't allowed to have birds, insects or reptiles of any kind and said I'm a terrible resident because I have reptiles and they are such vicious noodles that hide from everything or want to chill on my office desk. He asked about their size and I told him what the different sizes were and that retics and burms weren't for me because of their size. "That's probably a good thing, you don't want one of them sizing you up for dinner". Perfect moment to educate him because just like this article, he's read about snakes eating people and large animals. Now he wants to see them sometime.

    "Hey! Psst! Hey, I got something you might like man, it's just over here in this tall grass where you can't see anything. It's a candy bar!"

    That's exactly how the man was ambushed. It's 100% logical, can't be disputed and there are obviously no other explanations.

    Re: Man Reportedly Found Inside Giant Python

    They haven't responded as yet. I did get one girl who tried to tell me that she has three ball pythons over 6 feet and that I'd be surprised what they can eat. When I went on her profile she does indeed have three BPs, but none of them even close to 6 foot, and all wrapped around her wrists. It's very frustrating...

    wait what?!! u have been halfway down being swallowed by a big snake?!!

    It's unfortunate that this happened to this young man. For anyone to be cut down in the prime of their life is a tragedy and I hope his family and friends find peace.

    A couple of articles that I read had testimonies from neighbors in the area that had "heard screaming" the night before they discovered the snake, but of course that may be hearsay. That being said, I would imagine someone that is mentally sharp (ie. no drugs / alcohol / other imperatives) would know how to get out of a snake's grip if they found themselves in it but you never know. I'm sure a toxicology report won't be done and won't matter what it turns up at the end of the day even if it was done because the fear is already reaffirmed for most people that read articles like this, regardless of the circumstances because context never matters in these types of situations it seems, which sucks.

    For people to villainize any animal though is ridiculous, especially when you live in close proximity to these giants or any apex predators for that matter. It's not like this happened somewhere where this snake was not native and known to be in the area/something to avoid if possible. Not to mention this type of thing is extremely rare but won't stop people from dusting off their pitch forks and torches.

    As far as the news article using a picture of a ball python literally makes my blood boil. I'm not one to get angry at a lot of things but there's nothing that irks me more than misinformation, especially at the detriment of something completely innocent. Good thing it's almost noon 'cause I need a drink after reading this BS.

    I'm not at all surprised. I expect it happens more often than is reported. Big snakes, smaller people... what's to prevent it? I don't see it as any different than shark attacks or gators, or polar bears. Humans aren't always at the top of the food chain.

    Yeah the video looked pretty real. I read the article, his neighbors said he had gone down to the fields to read a book. Who knows what really went on though.

    I've seen the pictures and video and it does appear legitimate except for one thing. Supposedly he was eaten Sunday night and cut loose yesterday. If that timeline is accurate I would have expected more digestion. Other than that, which is just an assumption of mine, I think this case is authentic. The python was also smaller than I expected too. Pretty crazy stuff.
