The man was recently deceased and the snake found him still warm.

Was extremely drunk or incapacitated by use of another drug.

didn't even think about it that way. i wonder what crazy set of circumstances must have happened for this to be the outcome.

Don't know but I can see the drunk one happening pretty easy. Back in my younger days I was drunk enough a few times that I might have been halfway down before I realized what was going on. Too late at that point. I think once the snake has your head its game over even if you managed to survive the constriction.
