A temp gun is nice to actually measure the temp where your bp sits on. If the flexwatt is 90* that means a degree or two will get lost until the actual spot where your bp lays inside the tub. So pretty much you want the inside of the tub on the floor directly over the flexwatt temp to be 90* so you may have to set your herpstat to say....92* because you may loose 2* from the plastic. But you would need temp gun (and the cheap ones are only like 10$ on amazon just make sure to get one with a +-1* reading accuracy) to accurately read the temp inside the tub

I'll definitely invest in one! I want to make sure that my snakes are getting the proper heat. Does the percent on the Herpstat 2 matter? The highest I've seen it get is 29% at 90*F.
