It's an idea for sure . In the meantime keep spraying regularly especially on the days after their eyes clear until they've shed completely .

Well, so much for that. I'm sure it hurts like hell when it by a bigger snake. I'm more afraid of him hurting himself if he bit me. I can get over it.

Don't get confused, hand feeding is a little misleading. They will eat out of your hand once you establish a good feeding response, most of mine do. But keep in mind, they are not gentile about it, they just want their food and they aren't going to let you holding it get in their way, be prepared to get tagged if they miss lol!

My error , he did strike feed off tongs a few years ago , I was holding him though . He was such a great feeder I just wondered if he'd strike whilst outside the viv .
I only did it once and always use tongs as a rule .
That said my adult Corn snake has in the past eaten OFF my hand but he's a special guy and has never struck , he just slides through the mouse like a whale feeding on plankton - very slow and gentile feeder .
I would never recommend this to anyone else . You just get to know your snakes over the years .

Lol! Ball python bites, even from big ones are not that bad. It's mostly just surprising.
They slam their prey items pretty hard.. I think it would be pretty hard for a ball python to get hurt biting you unless you started waving it around or threw it lol.
So yeah, don't do that. Over time you will be able to read body language and see if a bite is imminent.

So it's possible but comes with risks... can he hurt himself if he tags me?? We haven't been able to get him to feed yet and we've had him for almost two weeks. Sunday will be three weeks without feeding. If I start of feeding by hand.... just very curious here. I'm not going to try anything new until we get him established.

That would be neat to see. How many years have you been handling snakes and what was you first one if you don't mind me asking?? Someone mentioned 20 years of experience and it may have been you, but I would have to go back through the thread to be sure.
