Given the right kind of viv setup with plenty of hiding places and some branches they will be seen climbing and exploring every evening .
It just riles me somewhat . I've seen pictures of some set ups that comprise of a rub , a hide , a water bowl and some kitchen role as substrate and then they're surprised when the Royal spends a lot of time in their hide .
its not incorrect, its my opinion much like yours is that they are good display snakes. In the evening sure they may come out but a display animal is something you can enjoy just staring at at any point without having to move hides around etc. That's exactly what my snakes are in lol, hides, water, paper towels, tubs.
I had my first bp in a tank, substrate, vines, etc etc etc. Guess what? Never came out lol except when I was asleep at night. She also refused F/t rats for me UNTIL I put her in her rack tub. Eats like a champ now with zero issues.

Who mentioned moving hides around?
If they're given plenty of hiding spaces and some branches they will climb and explore hours on end every evening in my experience .
It appears you've decided to simply throw out a generalisation based on one poor experience with one Royal Python ...

Well I'm biased as I have both Royals and Corns ( plus Kings , Ratsnakes , Garters , a Burm , a Retic and two Boas ... )
Maybe you should simply get one of each .... A Royal and a Corn snake

and again I'll state that a display animal isn't only visible at specific times lol, the evening, when a bp is supposed to be active makes sense. During the day however I'd have to move their hides to see them. I bet yours aren't out at 2 or 3 in the afternoon either.
I didn't throw out a generalization, I experienced what a multitude of bp keepers experience. The saying "a hiding ball is a happy ball" didn't just start from one keeper lol.
You've simply decided my opinion isn't valid for some reason lol. It wasn't a poor experience in the least, I was THRILLED she didn't venture out or surf the enclosure. I'm willing to bet a lot of folks on here would agree with that.

It's all about opinion but you mentioned you tried with one Ball python in one Viv set up , I just thought you were generalising somewhat ...

If you want a fabulous looking 'all day long' display snake then I'd suggest a Rhino Rat snake

Most of my collection come to life in the evening as their mainly nocturnal but the Rhino is on display all the time , it's also very inquisitive and great to handle . Looks amazing as well of course

Thank you for all the input. I'm sure every snake has its own personality. And, I'm sure some BP might "display" better than others. I'll just have to play and learn... and, as mentioned, maybe get both eventually. Key word is: "eventually". Because, "Hey honey, I never had a snake before, and I know you don't like snakes, so I'm going to get two" doesn't sound as convincing to the wife as "Hey honey, I think a snake would be a great experience for the kids, have them learn something about these extraordinary, and often inappropriately feared, creatures... love you!" Know what I mean?

Try taking her to a reptile / pet shop where they have some hatchling snakes .... once she's got a baby Royal sat in her hand you're sorted .
