    Lazy Noodle turned Speedy HULK.

Hello everyone! I'm a new BP owner, and I've had Baby for about a month now, and for the most part, she's been a normal ball python. Sleep during the day, come out for maybe 15 minutes at night, then go back to her hide. She's kept in a 20 gall glass tank with a screen top and another piece of glass on top. The glass covers about 3/4 of the screen top. Heat is managed by a heat pad regulated by a thermostat, and a heat lamp up top. She has 2 half log hides, one on each end, and some vine so she feels comfortable traveling from one hide to the next. I have the 20 gall tank converted to a 10 gall for the time being with a strong piece of cardboard. With this set up, she's been very calm, and been eating her meals on time.

Tuesday last week, she managed to knock the cardboard wall down while I was gone from work, and has been on the fritz since. Since then, I have books and blankets on the other side, so she hasn't been able to knock it down, but she's still trying. I'm growing more concerned because she'll start rubbing her nose against the screen as well. She also has started burrowing under her bedding, which is making her tank a hot mess. Her temps are about 80-85 on the cool end, and 90-92 on the hot end. Humidity is about 60-65 usually. Her normal feeding day is Monday, but because she's been so frisky, I was thinking she was hungry. I fed her yesterday, and she ate right away. That calmed her down for the night, but I come home from work again, and she's still doing her whole gymnastics routine...

What is happening with my poor noodle???

She's 3 months, not sure about her weight, and I've been feeding her small adult mice now since hoppers are on the smaller size for her now.

If she wants the whole space you should give it to her. She might very well calm down. They get restless when they know there's more space for them to explore that they can't access

Hate to bump this thread back up, but she's still restless. I didnt give her the full space, only because it'd be hard for me to regulate the heat in such a big tank, and I'm afraid i might spook her if the space is too big. I've switched her to cypress mulch as well. She isn't as speedy anymore but she's still poking at the mesh screen and riding the walls quite a bit...

She's feeding, and when she's out and about, she's constantly flicking her tongue, so I'm notsure what could be wrong... should i start feeding her larger prey?

She could very well be hungry ! I find that young BP's can be bottomless pits.

I'm not saying you should feed every 2 days, but the young ones should eat about every 5 days and the food should leave a visible lump. Obviously not a huge lump, but a definite one.

I don't always go "strictly" by a chart or a calendar. Sometimes they go through phases where they want more food, then less again. They do a lot of growing at this stage, and go through food faster then an adult who just barely grows anymore.

Can you post pictures ? With something in the picture as size reference. Like a soda can next to the snake or a pencil.

If your temps and humidity are up to par and this is a young/growing snake that is feeding well...I'd say the restlessness is "looking for food".

    imho

Here's where she is now since the extension. Dont mind the paper towels. I have those there since I'm also looking for possible mites. Idk why she has been so restless

I forgot to mention! I put up a board on the left side of the viewing side of her tank, so it doesnt feel so open to her.
