Does ball python pick up dead prey on their own?
I just wanna know if I leave a dead mouse/rat alone with the ball python. Will it grab the mouse/rat itself like a corn snake does? Hope you guys can share your experience. Thanks!

Some will, but some won't. You'll just have to try and see!

Mine sometimes does and sometimes doesn't, it depends how hungry she is. Try it and see.

Most of mine are strikers, but my favorite just likes when I leave his mouse. Had a couple of snakes over the years like that, so yes.

I have one that will only eat that way. Literally will look and me and wait till I put the rat down and close the door.

Mine do sometimes, and don't other times. I can never get my youngest to strike, she seems almost afraid of the rat, but she will sniff it out and eat it in her own time. Back when I got her and she was still on live she would always run from the rat no matter how small. My big ones will often strike at the f/t rat, but usually if they don't and I leave it there overnight it'll be gone in the morning.

Yellow was on a little hunger strike after he moved into his T8; after a few refusals i just laid a piece of cardboard down and put the rat on it. next morning it was gone. the only other time he ate like that was when he was a baby.

Some will but most will need a little motivation by dangling the prey.
