Exclamation Ball Python Hiding All Day, All Night! Normal???

Hey guys! I need to stop my over thinking now. So there has been a change of temperament with my ball python, Cheddar. It seems as if it is now like him for a couple of days now. When I bought him weeks ago, he was somehow active at night like he always tries to go out slowly but this week, he somehow changed. He doesn't go active at night anymore; he keeps on staying inside his hide that I gave him a week ago. But a week ago, he was active at night but this week, he keeps on hiding in his hide (all day, all night). I could not tell you the exact temperature and humidity because both my thermometer and hygrometer could have a problem. I just want to make sure if there's is something I should worry about. I am just worried because of his changes this week. Is it normal for a ball python to do that? Or is it sick?? Badly need your reply. Thanks!

Sounds like some pretty common behavior. He has probably started to settle in.

once my newest 2 just settled in they never leave their hides. Ever. if they do its late at night for a drink then right back in. BP's hide, its in their nature to be hidden 99.9% of the time, and a great sign if they aren't attempting to leave their spots.

I told you on your other post about baths that your BP will not be out most of the time, in fact at least 3 other members did too.

He could be going into shed. Mine doesn't leave her hides when she goes into shed unless it's time to eat. But yeah, like the others have said, BPs hide all the time. It's what they do best. lol

Could it be possible that a ball python could shed without eating to much?
    * refer to the problem in finding the perfect food for him since they are all out of stock *

Yeah that could happen. If I'm not mistaken it hasn't been that long since your snake ate right? it really shouldn't be at the point where it's losing weight. When was your last shed?

Cool Re: Ball Python Hiding All Day, All Night! Normal???

According to my breeder, my ball python had his recent shed a week before my purchase. Possibly the first week of January. Thank you for your help Cletus!

Question Re: Ball Python Hiding All Day, All Night! Normal???

And I almost forgot, can I try to handle him even though that he is in his hide? I am going to clean and disinfect his enclosure, that's why I want to handle him for a moment. Is it okay when I'll just take his hide and bring him outside to do enclosure cleaning?
