    "Ideal snake" is subjective. Some people like snakes because of the variety of morphs to create neat looking variations. Some like exotic snakes that are nice to look at, but not to touch. Dumerils have no cool morphs and hide a lot, so you can't see them.

    But like you, I like Dums for the qualities you mentioned. They make a nice pet snake that is not skittish, doesn't mind being handled and has nice size. I happen to think they're beautiful too.

    These are old pics, which is why I haven't posted them. I'll post some new ones next time I take him/her out (I thought he was male, but recently I looked and couldn't find any spurs, so now I'm not sure). In any case he's 7 months old and about 180g.
