Re: Question... how often does everybody let excrement sit in their snakes enclosures
I use paper as well. I check every morning and change anything needed. I also check before turning in for the night, just so none of the animals have to sit in a mess over night.

My girl takes these massive pees pretty regularly and soaks large portions of the tub floor. I can usually walk by and see condensation on the sides of the tub. Sometimes I get tired of changing out the substrate so often with just 2 snakes. I can't imagine what it's like for keepers with tons of animals. Especially when they do it all themselves. It's def something to take into consideration when you have visions of owning racks and racks full of snakes. lol

YUP !!! My girls can flood the tubs. Def. not just "solid" urates. Thats why I like shredded Aspen. It soaks it up long/well enough until I can get to it. Paper towels or one sheet of paper would do nothing for them, they would be soaked in pee.
I just grab all the soaked Aspen and replace it. Since I get Aspen fairly cheap its no big deal.

yeah I'll go in the tub and she is chilling out on top of her hide. "Anytime you wanna get in here and clean this up" She is something else.

I also clean as soon as I see it. Their urine is solid (mostly) and bright white, so it's easy to find. Their poopies look like weird shaped substrate (I use Cypress mulch). I've learned that they do a pretty good job hiding it in corners, so I look carefully. I handle my 2 boys daily, so I see it when I hold them and change their water. Like others have said, the more you can notice and pull it out, the less chance for mites and such.

Oh yeah it's hard to not clean out the "lovebirds"... but they get to wait until they're unlocked.
In addition to the regular twice daily cleaning, there's no stink like retic stink when one of them goes. That gets cleaned up ASAP.

As soon as I see it, and I check at least twice a day (more if I'm working from home).

Same as all. As soon as I see it. Even if I want it to skip a time, it's just too stinky 😷 to ignore.

Mine does that too. Anytime I see her on top of her hides I start checking around.

I clean mine immediately without exception. I was taught to treat a snake's enclosure like a newborn's diaper. Never leave it dirty for any amount of time at all.
