Sounds exactly like how mine has been, I wouldn't worry about the lack of visible drinking. I was concerned but by pure chance ended up with my ball being on one side of her water bowl and her dinner on the other, she ended up dunking it while eating it so it worked out. I would recommend trying that if your really worried about it - once they have strangled the rodent sopping wet fur doesn't seem to matter at all.
