snake hides hot and cold need a question answering

I have a hide each side on my snakes set up one on the hot side and one on the cold side the one on the hot end is a cave type the one on the cold end is a wooden half trunk I have never seen him in the cold hide but have seen him on top of it do you think I should change it to the cave type like the one on the hot side to give him more sucurity or do you lot think he will be fine

Re: snake hides hot and cold need a question answering

i think a general rule of thumb around here is to have two hides that are the exact same so the snake won't have to choose. this lowers the odds of it choosing security over its need to regulate.

What are your temperatures, your heat source and how are you regulating it?

Re: snake hides hot and cold need a question answering

I'm using a ceramic heat bulb I arnt sure on the power as it came with the vivarium the cold side stays around 78 and the hot side fluctuates between 86 and 90 I'm using a 300w komodo thermastat.
I'm having to spray down 3 to 4 times a day to keep the humidity around 55 otherwise it drops down to 40 I'm going to look for a moss box on the weekend to help the humidity and think I might as well try another cave hide for the cold side like I say he will go to the cold side when needed but he's always on top of the hide when he does he's quite hidden when he does as I've some wood resting on the hide which he hides behind but just never goes in the cold hide
