I'm hoping the next handling session goes a little better maybe it cuz I only waited 24 hours after feeding lol maybe I should wait longer next time but anyways here is another pic

Lol she is all worked up there. Her eyes are kind of like Rosey's eyes. Give her a few weeks and i'm sure she will mellow out. You haven't graduated from being "Giant Godzilla Snake Eater Monster" to " Tree of Rodent Dropping". Then final phase is "The Rat God" and that's where your boa will let you drag her around anywhere in any position and just sit there looking around lol.

Pretty snake! Look forward to seeing her progress! And yes. That's the best part of raising them from babies, is seeing their feistiness and attitudes change.

well I cant remember where I seen it but I remember reading that if you do pick them up and they are like that to "not back down" and to keep holding them and I did even know their was not hissing or striking she deff looked at me like move and ill bite but I keep holding her for another 10-15 minutes I hope I am doing it right I want to move forward in her trust not lose more....I cant wait till I can get them puppy dog tame but the experience doing it will be amazing I love learning the independent behaviors that snakes have... how long should I wait before holding her again should I do it just a little bit everyday I also heard someone saying that putting a t-shirt that I have wore in their will also help but I figured that was for way more aggressive snakes

I love her already im figuring the reason she was like that is because she had just ate about 24 hours before I reached in and picked her up next time im most likely wait about 48 hours.... thank you

    Nice girl!

Regular but positive handling sessions are the key. You do want to keep them out just long enough to calm down, but as soon as they calm down they should be put away so as not to stress them for too long. I've honestly had a lot of luck "taming" 3 different snappy snakes by handling them once or twice every other week, I didn't have to handle them much at all. Morzan took a couple months to calm down, and Tirel and Crona calmed down after a few weeks to a month. Adding extra hides really helped in Crona's case, he's in a 66 qt tub. Started out with 4-5 hides and a big fake vine, added a couple more and he calmed down. I've since removed one and replaced another with a bigger hide since he's grown some. All 3 have remained docile, I've had Morzan ~9 months, and Tirel and Crona for ~5 months.

thank you cloud!! I plan on doing some handling sessions on a regular basis but not to often. I tried yesterday with her like I said but she wasent having it I mean no hissing or snapping she was just coiled back waiting to strike while NEVER taking her eyes off me lol and everytime I moved I could feel her whole body tense up but she was also flicking her tongue so idk really what that meant lol... iv never handled a snake that acted like that so it did kinda startle me.... I mean when they act like that what do you do.. do you stand very still like a statue like I did or what? I only have two hides in the cage and a big fake vine as well and a that branch looking thing that she loves to climb on but for the most part she stays under the substrate (aspen) with just her head poking out so she can see what is going on

Yes if the snake strikes or does something not wanted, you should not reward them with being put back in the cage as that will reinforce that behavior. Taming them down will come with time. Its not something you can rush or force on them. Snakes aren't like dogs where you can more or less 'break" them. You will just make them stress more and more and get worse and worse. Since your boa is so new, I personally would just leave them alone and just let them watch the area, see you changing water every other day, spot cleaning any poops or pees, feeding them, just doing the daily stuff. Soon they will realize you aren't going to eat them and then them being curious will usually come over to see whats going on. Then you can start working with handling them for a little while at a time. I wouldn't do it daily until your boas are comfortable being out.

I started out with mine just handling them every couple days. You don't need to handle your boa all the time for them to stay mellow. A couple times a week is plenty and some boas like it more than others. Like Vicky doesn't mind coming out but she isn't nearly as gung ho about it as Rosey is. Rosey LOVES to come out and sit on me or ride around on me while I do stuff but she does have days where I open the cage and she just looks outside at me and turns around and goes back in the cage. After you have them long enough, you learn to read them more or less.

I never did the t-shirt thing. They learn soon enough from smelling you/the environment every day and seeing you doing the daily stuff in their cages. My advice is just let them settle in and get relaxed. First and foremost, you want to get them eating and pooping regularly, then you can start working with them.

Lol wait until you get that one snake that is a bear to work with. My JCP was a TERROR. She bit me at least 20 times and ive only had her just over 3 months. I've gotten her where I can take her out fairly confidently and not get bit but I don't let anyone near her as she will take a shot at anything within reach if it pisses her off haha. She took a shot at a pop can when I took a drink with her sitting around my neck/shoulders. She then hissed loudly at the can haha. Once you can tame down something like that, everything else is childs play hahaha.

Heres a picture of her. I call her Angry Allie lol.
