Re: finally settled a new retic

Splendid looking animal! I was really amazed at how much more engaged he was in the second video. Grats.
Stay in peace and not pieces.

Looks like a plat tiger to me. Nice snake. I almost picked up a 50% SD female version of one of those but ended up getting my White tiger from Kris at Vital Exotics. Has he tried to eat you after coming out of shed? Caesar freakin went on a rampage after shed and tried to attack his paper towel "petting stick". Now he is just staring at me from over top of his hide wanting food asap lol. Who would have guessed a retic in shed for about 1.5 weeks would so hungry lol. I should have named him "Starvin Marvin" after the South Park little Ethiopian boy they got from Suzanne Somers lol. And wait, they grow like weeds...the retics, not sure about the Ethiopian kids....

That's an awesome retic, is that full blood mainland? If it is it's going to get HUGE! I have an albino 50% Jampea dwarf / 50% mainland. Not quite sure how big she is going to get but she isn't even a year old and she is eating large rats like crazy. She is doubling in size every 3 weeks! She is growing so fast she scares me LOL. My retic gets stuck in shed a lot and you have to give her a soak in a 90F bath. You'd be surprised how big of a rat your little retic can eat, you can probably feed it small rats already. When my retic was that size I was feeding twice a week. Now that she is over five pounds I'm feeding once a week. Here's a photo of Lucy:

I'm far from a retic expert but I think Jampea still get to like 12 or 14'. I was told by Kris at Vital Exotics that my 37% SD 31% dwarf male will top out around 5-7' with normal feedings. So far at about 6 months old, he's about 4' and getting more hungry as he ages lol. If I had to guess on your girl, I would say 14' is going to be conservative and I would plan for 16'. Probably wrong but I would plan for it anyways.

Wow Lucy! so beautiful retic! thank you for sharing the photo and your experience! mine, pure mainland blood which means will get huge as you mentioned. I've been also surprised on their fast growth rate and it is so nice he seems mellower which I really love the interaction through daily basis short handling! I've fed him weekly basis, hopper size rats or chicks but also I'm thinking to increase its period.

    Yes,

    Really nice looking animal.

You can still control a mainland animal's size to some extent. I would feed conservatively but properly if that makes sense.

Yeah don't feed them all they want to eat. I've been feeding Caesar all he wants to eat and he's at least as long as his T10 cage and he's only 6 months old. It's only been 4 days but he is out at night pacing the front of the cage looking for dinner lol.

Nice looking guy. He looks to about the same size as my 6 month old SD but like I said, my guy is insatiable.

And they are mellow until they smell dinner lol. Has your guy come to the front of the cage yet and stared you down for dinner? That's when you really know that a retic can think haha.
