Baby Ball Python keeping in heat/humidity?

I just purchased a baby piebald ball on 11-12-16, and since then I've been having trouble keeping his heat up in his cage. I have a heating pad so far, but the only place that is heating up is the ground/hide right over it. I ordered a 75 watt heat lamp and dome, 2 thermomiters/humidity measurers and it's going to get here tomorrow. Hopefully that'll solve he problem. He's looking a bit pink, so I think he's gonna shed soon. Does anyone know how to heat up his cage more?

The heat lamp will help but it will also dry out your cage so you are going to need to compensate for humidity. Is this a screen top tank? If so, you should cover the screen top and use a wider water bowl in order to help maintain the humidity up.

Is that heating pad regulated with a thermostat? It can get hot enough to burn your snake if left unregulated.

When I bought the heat pad at the reptile expo, the guy who sold it to me who has been selling them for years said that it would be fine, the newer ones would not get that hot. I have him in a exo terra medium low and was going to put foil or clear wrap on top of his cage. Someone suggested Reflectix to fis that issue. I have a spray bottle and I'm spraying the tank once a day. Tomorrow I'll find out just how humid the cage is.

If the spraying still doesn't help you might try some damp towels/washcloths, I use a couple warm washcloths on top of my screen lid under a plexiglass cover and it retains the humidity all day and overnight.

Even if the heat pad didn't get that hot, I'm sure it wouldn't stay at the 88-90F range that your little buddy needs for a hot spot. Best to get an affordable thermostat plugged in than a possible burn!

We can't emphasize enough the importance of a thermostat for the animals safety and your safety. Unregulated heat pads are a electrical fire hazard as well. Anyone who told you otherwise was not being straightforward with you.

You mean he's been lying to people he sold to for years???.. just get a thermostat. It's a required thing.
