Stuck Eye Cap?

I posted a few months ago about a setup and am happy to report i have rarely run into any problems with my Ball Python, which is very fortunate.

However, my snake who is a year and a couple of months, has what can only be described as a stuck eyecap, and I am worried that it will turn into an infection. Does anyone know any home-treatments? If all else fails I will work to scrape together some cash to take him to an exotic vet, but I have read stuck eye caps are relatively easy to treat.

Note ; He is a sweet snake overall and lets me touch his head, i only held his head for the picture, and i do not make a habit of holding onto the heads of my snakes.

Hello, are you sure it's a stuck eyecap? Do you see the edge or outline of old stuck skin around the periphery of the eye? What type of set up is he living in and what are the temps and humidity? Cool side , warm side, ambient temp readings?

I'm not certain that it is a stuck eye cap, as after his last shed I did not notice this at all. It looks to be stuck to the eye itself, I have looked at tons and tons of google picture of stuck eyecaps, and they are all very very similar to what my snake has.

He lives in a tub, the warm side is 90-95F and the cool side is between 76-83F. His humidity keeps up a constant 55-60% humidity, when he's shedding I mist it a few times a day to bump it up to 75-80% humidity.

As for the state of his cage, he has numerous hides, rocks, two water bowls for each side [ in a few months he will move into a larger tub and will have more hides/other tub essentials] , and a small fake tree.

Not sure if this is relevant, but I clean out his substrate [ paper towels ] once a week and one every month or two take out all of his items and thoroughly clean them with a very diluted bleach substance.

I would recommend bumping the humidity. Try to keep your humidity in the 60-70% range all the time. My Ball Python had a stuck eye cap when kept at lower humidity, and would often shed in pieces. So I bumped it up and his next shed was perfect and the stuck eye caps came off on their own because he was well humidified.

That's not a stuck eyecap - it's the skin joining the spectacle to the rest of the snakes skin. It probably got pulled out during the shed.

If it had been a stuck eyecap that area would be ragged where the old skin pulled away. Don't mess with it or you will blind your snake.

Thank you so much! I will be careful not to mess with it at all, but I will still keep an eye on it to make sure it doesn't get worse.
