Should a ceramic heat emitter smell?

I just got a new one and it's emitting the heat fine but it has an almost burning like smell. It's making me a little nervous.

I've had that happen with new bulbs, it should go away, but keep an eye on it.

Was it brand new, or have you owned it and used it before?

It's brand new. I looked up some info and apparently that is normal for new heaters.

Probably perfectly normal then. Most heating devices have an odor to them when they're first being used or when they're coming off of a long period of non-use.

Just keep an eye on it and make sure it's not overheating the socket/dome it's screwed in to.

Yea definitely normal then. It can smell a bit worse if you've used it before and it's been collecting dust, that's why I asked. Of course I don't find the smell too strong at first.
