    First Time Breeder

What Would Be A Good Ball Python Breeding Project? I'm Thinking Of Breeding A Few Fires Together To Get Some Black Eyed Leucistics. What Do You Guys Think?

What are your favorite morphs? What is your end goal? Are you breeding for yourself or to sell?

I Would Like To Do Both. Thats Why I Picked The Fires. The Black Eyed Leucistics Are Amazing And They Are High Dollar Snakes, But I Would Like To Stay On The Side Of Sell To Be Able To Afford More Bleeding Projects.

I'm doing the same myself, I have a female Fire coming to me in the next month and then I plan on buying a male Fire in the next year to breed some Lucy's. I like the look of them myself, but I don't have the funds to out and just buy one, so I've decided to go the long way around it and breed my own. The female is a 2015 hatchling so that'll save a little time though.

    Re: First Time Breeder

This is also a situation im stuggling with. I currently have one pair that i will breed, a pastel/butter/ghost female to a killerbee yellowbelly male but they will not be ready until end of next year for the 2018 season. The thought was to go after a white walker lol but couldnt find a killerbee enchi. In any case im trying to get two adults now to breed this season. My stuggle is choosing the morph. I know i want to breed clown but even Het females are very expensive. So i have toyed going the Kalabash route which is a much more affordable project but man i just love clowns. My goal is to only breed a couple clutches a year. But i want snakes that are valuable enough where i can get enough back to invest into better breeders (more/better genes) its a conundrum that's for sure

There are tons of REPUTABLE breeders selling hets, and by that I mean reputable breeder, someone no one ever heard off selling on facebook or craiglist is not what I call a legitimate breeder or someone reputable I have bought my fair share of het and never had any concern and that is way back when hets were 2 to 3 times more expensive than visuals.

It's about who you buy from.

If you want to breed I am pretty sure at some point you will want people to trust you, goes both ways.

The het scam is not as likely to happen as it used to a decade ago.

Who are some reputable breeders? Would it be better offline or from a show?

Go to fauna classifieds. If you register you can search their BOI forum. So for instance I'll be on morph market, see a snake i like, click the breeder profile then search the persons name in the BOI. Then you can see if people have had dealings with them and what they say. If theres no posts about them i generally stay away. Same obviously if theres bad postings. Its really a great resource. You can also post your own thread asking about a breeder. I actually got directly in contact with one by doing that. Shows are also great, although ive found theres definitely more hatchlings than adults. I have only been to a couple though
